By the close of definitive registration on June 15, 2011, a staggering number of participants had signed up for the 31st Rhythmic Gymnastics
World Championships - proof that this discipline is gaining ground on the international scene. Fifty-four federations are in the running, up by one from the Moscow edition in 2010. We will see 155 individual gymnasts
and 24 groups bring the total to a whopping 299 athletes. To boot, a full 5 continents are represented, making it clear that
Rhythmic is a universal sport.
